What is reflective vinyl called?

page-1-1

Reflective adhesive vinyl, or reflective, is a material that reflects light. It doesn’t create light; it isn’t lit, and you don’t notice it in the daylight. It reflects light in the dark such as vehicle headlamps.

How is it Made?

There are two types of reflective adhesive vinyl material:

Retroflective – contains small glass beads that reflect light

Prismatic – is layered with very small prisms that reflect light

Reflective material is manufactured to different compliances; while some may be suitable for flat surfaces, such as a traffic sign or a side door law enforcement shield, they may not be suitable for 3 dimensional applications. Materials rated at higher levels of compliance may be required to bend around curves and corners.

Reflective Self Adhesive Vinyl – RETRO REFLECTIVE VINYL is manufactured by adding glass beads to the pigment of the vinyl face film, when these beads have been embedded into the face film of the REFLECTIVE VINYL FILM they reflect the light back to the source of illumination, another method of producing RETRO REFLECTIVE VINYL is to mould tiny prisms into the face film, this is known as “MICRO PRISMATIC VINYL” so the vehicle headlights enable the driver to see a REFLECTIVE STRIPE on the side of a lorry, or the rear of an EMERGENCY VEHICLE.

Dingfei is the industry standard in high performance calandered vinyl. This vinyl's glossy reflective surface provides a unique, reflective appearance to high-visibility signs, craft projects and logos. This intermediate-term vinyl features solvent-based adhesive and is ideally suited for permanent outdoor or indoor applications. Dingfei is heavier than average wrapping vinyls, making this material easier to work with and handle while conveying greater scratch and abrasion resistance. This film is able to last for 1-5 years.
