Does dot tape have to be red and white?

Trucks weighing over 10,000 pounds and with a width exceeding 80 inches need to have their trailers marked with 2-inch-wide DOT C2 reflective tape. This reflective tape alternates between white and red, with the white looking silvery during the day.

You can choose between a 6/6 (6-inch red and 6-inch white) or a 7/11 (7-inch white and 11-inch red) pattern to mark your trailer. This reflective tape is essential for ensuring maximum visibility and safety on the road.

To comply with the safety standards set by the Department of Transportation (DOT), the use of reflective tape on trucks and trailers is a must. This high-visibility red and white tape ensures that the vehicle can be seen from a distance, especially in low-light conditions. The tape must be affixed to both sides of the vehicle in an even distribution, covering 50% of each side. Additionally, the lower rear of the trailer requires two strips of reflective trailer tape, while the top corners must feature an inverted L using solid white.

With these DOT reflective tape requirements for trucks, you can rest assured that your vehicle is safe and visible on the road. This ensures the safety of the driver and other motorists on the road. So, if you own a truck, make sure to comply with these requirements and use high-quality reflective tape to enhance visibility and prevent accidents.
