The slow-moving vehicle (SMV) sign is a reflective orange triangle with a red border that is placed on the back of vehicles that are designed to move at speeds of less than 25 mph. It is intended to warn other drivers of the slow-moving vehicle, which may be a farm tractor, a construction vehicle, or any other type of vehicle that isn't capable of keeping up with traffic flow. The SMV sign is required by law in many jurisdictions, and failure to display it can result in a fine.
